Did I feel like a freshmen in my first week of classes? Yes. Did I get lost trying to find a classroom? Yes. Did I get excited when I walked into the newly-built modern Student Union building? Yes. I am surprised by how my first week at the University of the Fraser Valley went (in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada), but now that I've been to each of my classes... I get to share with you my experience! Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you enjoy reading!

For those of you who do not know me personally or are new to my blog, I spent the last three years at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia. I am working towards my communication and marketing degree and just started my fourth year! I am attending the University of the Fraser Valley to be closer to home, do new things, and be in a new school environment. I am taking the courses below for the semester:

- Sales Management

- Developing A Digital Presence

- Communication for Project Management

- Academic and Proposal Writing

- Practicum/Internship (check out my LinkedIn at the bottom of this post!)

One thing that will be an adjustment for my year at UFV will be the structure of courses. In previous years, my courses had sessions of one hour and 15 minutes in length, twice a week. My courses now are three hours in length, once a week. I have actually found myself to have more free time, which is great, however I've noticed a heavier workload at this new school. The courses I am in have interesting content, however there is a lot of preparation to do before class to be able to better understand lectures and actively engage. As long as I always update my calendar with due dates and schedule enough time to do work... I'll be fine!

I have had horrible professors in the past, as many of you can probably relate to. That's why I am thankful that my professors project intelligence and professionalism, but also teach enthusiastically and crack occasional jokes. I haven't talked to everyone in my classes, but based on first-week introductions that happened... students want to either learn and succeed or are very interested in the course content. Asides from professors and students, I am very excited to explore the campus more. I didn't take a campus tour or go to orientation for two reasons, 1) I was in Portland, Oregon for a road trip and, 2) I'm a senior and thought it would be weird to go to an orientation.

I have created goals for myself for this semester and next. I am in the process of applying to graduate programs in marketing and will be all this semester. For that reason, my grades are still very important to me. I want to enjoy the last year of my degree and do well academically, like how the saying goes... work hard play hard! I am hoping to raise my GPA by .10 this semester and .10 next semester, connect with students and professors who are in marketing and are interested in it, get accepted into a graduate program, and learn as much as I can in my internship. Feel free to message me on my Instagram account for my blog! I'd love to hear what your semester is looking like.
