Whether you are a recent high school graduate or have been a college/university student for a while, it's helpful to know if either morning or evening classes are best for you. Some programs allow you to choose courses, which comes with choosing the days and times they are offered. Therefore, if you will be enrolling in or are currently enrolled in a program that has electives, please read on! I'd like to share with you my schedule for the upcoming fall semester and give you advice on early and late classes. I hope you find this post helpful and thanks for visiting my blog!

Next month, I will be starting the last academic year of my degree. For those of you who do not know, I will be graduating with a communication major and marketing minor. In the upcoming fall semester, I will be taking five courses:
- Communication for Project Management
- Professional and Academic Proposal Writing
- Developing a Digital Presence
- Sales Management
- Communications Practicum
At Thompson Rivers University, most of the classes I took were two (2) one hour and fifteen minutes sessions a week. I have taken classes with start times of 8:30am, 10:00am, 10:30am, 11:00am, 12:15pm, 1:00pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm, and 5:00pm. The courses I have listed above are ones I will be taking at the University of the Fraser Valley which are, besides the proposal writing and practicum, three-hour long sessions once a week. The start times of these courses are 11:30am, 2:30pm, and 5:00pm. In my first year of university, I realized that taking a university class at 8:30am is much more difficult than taking a high school class at the same time. High school, as most of you either know or expect, is a lot easier than college and university. In order to earn good grades in university you need to be focused throughout every class. Focusing in class means listening to the professor lecture, writing notes, and engaging in group discussions. If you aren't a morning person, I would not recommend taking a class at 8:30am, 9:00am, or 9:30am.
I like to take classes that have start times in-between 9:30am and 1:00pm. I have never considered myself a morning person, however I would rather take a class at 8:30am than at 6:00pm. Taking a class earlier in the day means that you finish school early and have more of your day to either get homework done, hang out with friends, or do other things in your life. However, taking early classes comes with self-discipline. Discipline to go to sleep at a reasonable time, wake up early enough to get to class on time, and focus and get work done during class.
If you decide to take morning or evening classes, below are my tips for you!
MORNING
✓ Go to sleep before 11pm so you have energy for your morning class!
✓ Set an alarm so you don't sleep through your class!
✓ The night before, pack your backpack and set up breakfast!
✓ Coffee or tea is your best friend!
EVENING
✓ Either eat a meal before class or bring food to class!
✓ Stay hydrated by bringing a water bottle!
✓ Get a decent amount of sleep the night before or nap earlier in the day!
✓ Make a friend in the class so you are motivated to go!
