It is easy to feel overwhelmed after a month-long winter break. You may be struggling to find time for your hobbies or hang out with friends on busy class days. Instead of stressing too much in the semester, I have put together a few tips on how to balance life... whether that include school, hobbies, or friends. I hope you take away valuable information and start off the semester on a positive note! Thanks for visiting my blog!

#1 - Prioritize
When you know what is most important to you, it will be easier to create a healthy balance. Everyone has different lives and holds certain things more important than others, one person may value family and hobbies, while another may value friends and work more. Whatever you decide are your priorities in life, make sure you make time (minutes, hours, or days) for them.
#2 - Look at the course syllabus
I am assuming that if you are reading this you are a student in high school, college, or university. That being said, you probably know how important course syllabus' are for your success. I suggest keeping your course syllabus' and writing down the important deadlines for each of your classes. Knowing what your deadlines are will help you decide how much time to spend weekly on an assignment, project, or for studying. To balance aspects of your life as a student, it's critical to know when your deadlines are and figure out a rough estimate of the time you need to spend on work. Keeping track of this will also lead to a less stressful semester!
#3 - Use time effectively
Figuring out what is important to you and how much time you will spend on things in your life is only half the battle. Making sure that the time you do spend on doing homework, hanging out with friends, etc. is spent well... is also important. Spending two hours staring at your notebook and getting only 10 minutes of productive work done... doesn't seem like time well spent. When you schedule a few hours to work on an assignment, try to focus only on what you should do to complete it. Imagine how much you can get done in a short amount of time when you work effectively! Let's be honest, you probably would rather hang out with friends than write that 2,000 word essay... so using your time effectively can go a long way!
#4 - Mix it up
Let's say you have a class with a few friends and you don't have time to go out this weekend. In this situation, why not combine the time you spend doing homework with hanging out with your friends? If you and your friends won't be talking 24/7, it can be a way to be productive and enjoy being with your friends. If hiking is one of your hobbies, why not invite a friend to join you and enjoy your hobby with someone you love being around? Some weeks can get busy, so mixing it up could be a fun and efficient way to balance aspects of your life.
