How to Survive Finals Week

With my first final exam completed, I decided it would be the perfect time to give you advice on how to survive finals. You probably know the basic tips for dealing with multiple finals, such as: don't cram your studying the night before and get enough sleep, so I decided to explain how I keep myself organized during finals week and the last few weeks of the semester, in hopes that it can help you! I hope you take away valuable tips that you can use now and next semester!

Last semester, I decided to write out a schedule of what I needed to get done daily. However, this semester I typed out a table of what I need to get done (image shown below). As you can tell by the table, all the text is highlighted green. Originally all the text was either in a different colour or black, but once I completed a task I would highlight it to keep track of what I have done... instead of erasing it, so I can read it later on if I need to.

I made a table for the the last two weeks of November and the first two weeks of December. November revolved more on completing assignments and preparing for presentations, and December is almost solely on studying (image below).

There are colours shown in the table above, because I like to visually categorize my courses and course deadlines a certain way, which you can too! I personally feel accomplished when I cross out homework, or in this case, highlight it green. Creating this schedule has made me 100% aware of the assignments in my classes that I have to work on and their due dates. It has made me less stressed, because I know if I stick to the schedule then I am doing everything I need to. It has also made me focus on what I need to get done each day, instead of only focusing on everything I have to get done in ALL of my classes. I recommend putting together a table, on your computer or on paper, and seeing if it helps you. If you are seeking advice on how to study and take tests, I have a blog post from October 8, 2018 titled "Studying & Test-taking Tips".
