Hello and welcome to my blog! Have you ever struggled to find a good parking spot or study area? Have you ever wanted to know if a professor is a good one before enrolling in a class? Whether you are a first-year student or fourth-year student at TRU, my advice below can benefit you! I hope you enjoy and thanks for visiting my blog!

1. Lot N's sign says that it is full.

My first class on the first day of the semester was at 10:00am. I got to the parking lot around 9:30am, and the lot was almost entirely full. What I've found is that the more weeks into the semester there are, the more spots are available in the lot. Lot N's sign is not accurate! If the sign reads "FULL" and it's before 10:30am, there are always at least 20 stalls still available. So before leaving the lot in disappointment, check out the very back!

2. The House of Learning (HOL) has no free tables to study.

HOL will always be busy, whether it is at 9:00am or 4:00pm. It is arguable the most popular building to study, especially in groups. Being a student at TRU, I've learned which areas of campus tend to be less busy and be a good place to study. If you prefer a quiet place to do homework, check out the 3rd floor of the Arts and Education building. There are around 15 seats, a beautiful view of the campus, and it doesn't get too noisy. Another quiet location is the 4th floor of Old Main (known as the law area). There is natural lighting, a good mix of noise and silence, and is only a five minute walk to Bento Sushi and The Deli.

If you enjoy a noisy setting to do homework, my personal favourite are the tables next to The Deli on the 2nd floor of Old Main. It gives you more space to lay out a computer, notebook, and textbook than the seating area with stools. Most of my classes are in Old Main so it is also very convenient. When I am studying for a midterm or final, I need to be in a location that is completely quiet. I have gone to the library to study, but my personal favourite is the 2nd floor of the Student Union section of CAC. It doesn't get too loud and there is plenty of natural light!

3. I want to change career paths, but I don't know who to talk to.

Some individual's university careers is a straight path, however most path's will change! I was in the journalism degree program in my first year, started off second year in the business program, and I am now in the Bachelor of Arts, Major in Communications program. Everyone discovers what they want to do with their lives at different times, but the most important thing is to act on it! If you know you will love a career in the food industry more than human resources, than apply for the culinary arts program! Talking to an academic advisor is easy and can help you start on the right track.

Where to book an appointment in person: 1st floor of Old Main across from Starbucks

4. I want to make a schedule for the semester, but I don't know what to consider.

One of the things I like about university, is the ability to put together your own semester schedule. Below are things you should consider when putting together your semester schedule.

#1: If you aren't a morning person and the courses are not requirements, steer clear of 8:30am and 9:30am courses on your schedule.

#2: If you prefer going home to eat, you may want to schedule at least a one hour break in between your courses.

#3: If you focus better during the evening, you may want to enrol in evening classes.

#4: If you prefer to study off campus or at home, you may want to schedule your classes back to back either in the morning or afternoon.

**If you are working during school, this is helpful to consider too

#5: Assign priority on courses that are required for your degree/diploma. You don't want to fall behind in your requirements!

#6: Check out " http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ " to make yourself aware of what professors to avoid and which ones will aid in your success!

5. I want to eat healthy food on campus, but I don't know where to go.

TRU is undergoing a change in food services on campus, however there are currently places on campus to get reasonably healthy food!
