How To Be Successful In High School

I hope my advice can help you in the upcoming school year! When I put all of these tips into action in my last year of high school I definitely succeed more than I thought I would! Here is an overview of the advice mentioned in the video:

1) If you don't know how to solve a problem or figure out an answer... just ask!

- I would normally ask my friends first if I was struggling with a question, and I would recommend doing that (or asking someone near you) because it could be just a little mistake. If your

classmates can't help you then please don't be afraid to go up to your teacher and ask for help!

- I know that you may feel embarrassed or nervous to ask in front of the class... but who cares? Nobody is perfect and sometimes we just need help... and that's okay.

- Know that you will almost definitely understand how to solve a question or figure out an answer so much more if you ask!

2) Try to focus when the teacher is talking

- If you are on your phone all of class or chatting with a friend it is very highly unlikely that you will understand how to do the assignment given at the end of class or homework assigned

- Paying attention in class will make assignments, homework, and tests so much easier because you've listened and learnt the information

3) Set aside time to get your homework done or study for that test

- It does get tiring being in school for six to seven hours every day but if you do care about your grades then you should make time to get homework done and study. Giving yourself an hour a day to complete homework or two hours to study for a test will keep you on track to succeed

- You are more likely to understand what the teacher is talking about in class the next day if you finish the homework that needs to be finished

-You will probably do better on that test you have in a couple days or a week if you set aside one hour a day to study

-Our lives can get busy with sports, family events, and friends but just know that school should be one of your top priorities!

4) Be Organized

-It's hard to stay on track of school work if you don't have your notes and papers together, so make sure that you use an organizational method that works for you (maybe one small binder per class or one huge binder for all your classes sectioned off by each subject)

Overall the best advice anyone can give you is to just ask if you don't know something! If you don't ask you aren't giving yourself the chance to learn something you are struggling with. So in a way you are holding yourself back. I hope my advice is helpful for you!
