School work can pile up... especially if you have multiple classes! Having a planner is great... but how can you use it effectively in school? I have come up with some tips on how to use your planner and really make your school life a whole lot easier!

Tip #1: Bring it to every class.
The purpose of your school planner is to keep track of deadlines and homework. You may not get homework or be assigned projects and essays everyday, but having a planner with you incase your teacher introduces a new assignment or gives homework will help you stay on track to be successful!
Tip #2: Write down what's important.
Using a planner will give you the ability to write down deadlines for projects or essays and keep track of what homework you need to do. I know that when I forgot about homework that was due the next day... I was not able to participate in class or understand what was being said. So make sure to write down what's important!
Tip #3: Check it off or cross it out.
When I crossed off homework on my planner I felt really good about it! I felt accomplished... so that's why I'm suggesting you do the same! It's satisfying when you know you finished something that needs to get done.
Tip #4: Colour code subjects.
I always like to use different colours for each subject, because it's fun and easy to remember what subject I need to work on. I would write down everything using a black pen and highlight each subject with different colours, this made my planner look nice... but create habits that will help you the most!

Tip #5: Actually start using your planner!
Using a planner will help you get what you need to get done.... done! Since you've written it down, it will be in the back of your mind. Personally, I would get annoyed while I'm relaxing at home knowing that I wrote down in my planner that I have homework due the next day. This made me get up and finish it so I could relax knowing that I completed it! When your teacher assigns work in class, you may think that you'll remember it, but so much happens during a school day that once you get home or a couple days later... you may forget.
Tip#6: Think about how easier it'll be to keep track of school work and activities.
If your school doesn't provide a planner for students or it's too small or "ugly" go out and buy one! Having a nice looking planner will make it easier for you to actually use it. Writing down what club meetings, sport practices, homework, and projects you have... only takes a minute or two and will definitely help you in the long run!
